The Donna is made from a wheel-thrown base with a hand-built and hollow donut form attached. The horns are also hand-sculpted and hollow. This creation emerged through an exploration of how to combine my love of sculpting imaginary creatures and my new interest in non-objective forms. This mash-up allowed me to push my subject matter in a new direction, and it opened the floodgates of future project ideas! The sculpture is finished with underglazes and a transparent matte glaze. The frosting and sprinkles of the donut have a mother-of-pearl overglaze.
